About this role

As CTO you will design and deliver our new Service Oriented Architecture that will lay the foundations for the future of the company whilst supporting us to build out our ASP.NET Core 2.0 RESTful API. You will co-develop our machine learning data strategy and lead on its deployment.

This is both a strategic and a “roll your sleeves up” job as we enter the next phase of our growth. You enjoy leading teams through ambiguity and the thrill of delivering against key milestones. You are both strategic and operational, and can work with junior developers as easily as you talk to C-Suite clients.

Owning the entire software development lifecycle, you will lead on the specification, architecture, design, coding, testing and deployment of solutions within our Microsoft .NET environment.

The ideal candidate will be extremely self-motivated to succeed, and will have spent at least 5 years in a leadership position. You will have enjoyed a successful career trajectory to date and be highly regarded by your network. You may have been involved in a previous successful startup exit.

Reporting directly into the CEO as an integral member of the leadership team, this will be an exciting opportunity for you to join a leadership team of a company on course to make a big impact on the lives of many people.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Architect our platform for the next stage of our growth

  • Lead our data strategy deployment

  • Design, develop, and deliver features on our RESTful API and related services

  • Work with our Azure hosted environment

  • Grow and lead talented teams building both Angular and Android Native applications on top of our RESTful API

  • Take the lead on requirements identification and in producing specifications

  • Maintain a development environment for efficient testing and integration

  • Assist QA to define acceptance tests

  • Lead coding standards, develop best practices and procedures that your team can follow

  • Help us grow and nurture a talented development team

About You

  • 10+ years experience in Software Development, Design and Architecture (Machine Learning / AI a bonus)

  • Experience of working in a regulated environment such as HealthTech or FinTech

  • Experience working with high availability software

  • Experience working with big data sets

  • Strong knowledge and application of software design patterns

  • Strong C# and .NET framework knowledge

  • Strong ASP.NET Core 2.0 framework knowledge and skills

  • Excellent practical knowledge of OOP concepts and SOLID principles

  • Solid understanding of HTTP, JSON and RESTful design

  • Hands-on experience with SQL on Azure

  • Experience with Unit and Integration testing

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment workflows (VSTS)

  • Cloud experience

  • A highly ambitious self-starter that's at their best working in a fast paced environment with big goals

  • Working within a microservices architecture / distributed architecture

  • Experience building a social platform

  • An extensive digital network

  • Startup / early stage company experience ideal (seed / early stage companies)

  • Experience working with angel investors, VC, and private equity funds

  • Passionate about the tech/innovation landscape and transforming healthcare

What’s the package?

  • Base salary £50,000

  • Generous equity (negotiable for the right candidate)
