One Year in: A Founders Review
The start of a New Year is a natural point to stop and reflect. At just over one year old it was particularly special year for us, with plenty of memorable moments, achievements and learnings to take with us into 2017. We wanted to take a moment to take stock of the many people who have helped us along the way.
The New Year brought with it a special partnership with Constantia Healthcare, our first client. The team over at Longlands and Roseleigh care homes agreed to pilot our software and help us co-develop our best practice digital care plan. It was a proud moment when the Carers at Constantia reported an increase in time spent with residents, less time on paperwork, and 5x more information captured per resident. With minimal setup and training required, their feedback helped to confirm that we were making something people want and find easy to use. You can read the case study here.
As part of the feedback that we received we made a number of updates to our app. Working so closely with Constantia and other residential and nursing care home managers during 2016 gave us the idea to form a Customer Advisory Board made up of Carers and care home managers, to give us direct feedback and make suggestions for our future development roadmap. In 2017 new customers will have the opportunity to join the Board and influence the system design so that we can keep meeting their needs.
During April we applied to Seedcamp, an extremely competitive seed investment fund that enables Founders to tap into a global network of successful advisors. They were impressed by our team and our technology and by the middle of the year KareInn had become a proud member of the Seedcamp family.
Around the same time we also became the UK Ambassador for Aging 2.0, a global network on a mission to accelerate innovation to improve the lives of older adults around the world. We will be organising quarterly events for Aging 2.0, starting with a 'where are they now' special presentation by Oomph! Wellness CEO Ben Allen and Cera Co-founder, Mahiben Maruthappu.
During 2016 we developed a great friendship with Vic Rayner, Executive Director of the National Care Forum who also sees the potential benefits digital can bring to care service providers. We have partnered with her to run a series of events in 2017 to inspire care service providers to see what is possible and take practical next steps to cut costs yet improve quality with data analytics in care.
As we finished the year we were excited to grow our team and take on a new team member, Rachelle Mills, who joins us to help delight our customers as Head of Customer Engagement. Rachelle will be leading our Customer Advisory Board as well as working one to one with all of our homes to support them in their digital transformation. We are looking to take on more team members in the first half of this year, so if you are interested, keep an eye on our twitter.
There is so much to look forward to in 2017. KareInn exists to provide a better quality of life to our parents’ generation by empowering the people who support them. We have a long way to go on our mission, and whilst ‘today is better than yesterday, it's still not as great as tomorrow’.
